Privacy.
In plain English: what we collect, what we don't, and how we make money. No accounts, no tracking pixels, no resale of your data.
What we collect
- Search inputs — origin airport, dates, family size, and filters you set. We use these to run the search and to improve the product.
- Outbound clicks — when you click "See rates," we log which trip you clicked and the price displayed at the time. Booking partners use this to attribute commission to us.
- A session ID — a random identifier in your browser's local storage that links your clicks to your search. Not tied to your name or email.
- Usage analytics — via Google Analytics 4 (see below), we collect anonymized page views and product events (when a search runs, when results load, when a trip is opened, when a "See rates" or "Watch trip" button is clicked). This is behavioral, not personal — we don't send your name or email to Google.
- Email — only if you ask us to — if you use "Watch this trip," we store the email address you enter so we can notify you about that trip. That's the only feature that collects an email, and only when you opt in. See "Watch Trip emails" below.
What we don't collect
- We don't require your name, email, or address to search. There are no accounts.
- We don't sell your search data to third parties.
- We don't run advertising trackers or retargeting pixels (no Google Ads, Meta/Facebook Pixel, TikTok, etc.). We use Google Analytics for product analytics only — not advertising.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used and where the experience breaks down — for example, how many searches reach live results, and which steps people drop off at. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_<id>) and the analytics script is loaded from googletagmanager.com. Google processes this data on our behalf; the events we send describe actions on the site (search run, results viewed, trip opened, rates clicked), not who you are.
You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser. The site works the same either way. We use Google's default data-retention setting (event data retained for 14 months).
Watch Trip emails
If you opt in to "Watch this trip," we store the email you provide solely to send you updates about that trip (such as a price change). We don't add you to a newsletter, we don't sell or share the address, and every notification includes an unsubscribe link. Email us any time to be removed.
Cookies & local storage
We use a small amount of browser storage: one piece of local storage for the session ID above (to associate your search with your booking clicks), and the first-party Google Analytics cookies described above. We don't use third-party advertising cookies. The booking partners we redirect you to (Booking.com via Travelpayouts, Aviasales for flights, and airline/OTA sites) set their own cookies and have their own privacy policies — you'll be subject to those once you click through.
How affiliate partnerships work
When you click through to a booking partner, we pass an affiliate identifier so the partner can credit any resulting booking to KindredTrips. This is how we make money. The price you pay is identical — we don't add fees. The partner pays us a small percentage of their booking fee.
We sort search results by what fits your family — a mix of total trip cost, family-fit factors, and resort quality. We do not sort by which partner pays us the most.
Data we share with partners
When you click through to book, the booking partner (Booking.com via Travelpayouts, Aviasales, or an airline/OTA site) receives the destination, dates, and party size you searched for as part of the redirect URL, plus our affiliate identifier. They do not receive your email, session ID, or any other personal information from us. Separately, Google Analytics receives the anonymized usage events described above.
How long we keep data
Search inputs and click logs are kept indefinitely so we can improve the product and analyze trends. They live on Supabase (US-East). They are not exported or sold. Google Analytics event data is retained for 14 months (Google's default). Watch Trip emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Your rights
If you'd like us to delete your search history, email us with your session ID (visible in your browser's local storage under kt_session_id) and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. The "last updated" date below will reflect any changes.
